This category contains Rob Allen wetsuits and wetsuit spares: open cell and nylon/nylon spearfishing suits in 3 mm and 5 mm, a 1.5 mm one-piece hooded suit, two-piece diamond mesh commercial suits and beaver tail clips. Patterns include Rock Camo, Digital Green Camo and black. Most spearfishing suits feature a chest loading pad, knee pads and a beavertail fastener with dual locking clips.
Thickness is the main warmth control. The 1.5 mm one-piece nylon/nylon suit with hood is aimed at warm water. 3 mm suits cover temperate conditions, and 5 mm suits are for cooler water or long sessions where you stay still for a long time. Spearfishers lose heat faster than swimmers because they spend time motionless on the bottom, so err on the warmer side.
Open cell or nylon/nylon
Open cell suits have bare neoprene inside that seals against the skin, giving very good warmth for the thickness. They need lubricant to put on and should be handled with care. Nylon/nylon suits are lined inside and out, easier to put on and more resistant to rocks and wear. Rob Allen offers both in its spearfishing suits.
Cut and features
Most Rob Allen spearfishing suits are made from super stretch Ultraspan neoprene, fully glued and blind stitched, with a chest loading pad, knee pads and a beavertail fastener with dual locking clips. Choose a Farmer John or hi-waist pants with a hooded jacket, or buy the pieces separately.
