Choosing the right Rob Allen speargun spares
Rubbers and wishbones
Tuna Blue bulk rubber has a pure amber core and a UV- and abrasion-resistant blue outer layer and comes in 14, 16 and 20 mm, sold per 10 cm. Standard speargun rubber is sold per metre in 14–20 mm. Thicker rubber gives more power but is harder to load; the Rob Allen open triple muzzle, for example, recommends 14 mm rubber, or 12 mm for easier loading. As a guide, Rob Allen pairs a 45 cm rubber with a 50 cm gun and a 76 cm rubber with a 140 cm gun.
Lines and reels
Shooting and reel lines include Dyneema 2 mm in 60 and 100 m spools, 1.9 mm UHMWPE Ant line, 2 mm nylon and a nylon kit with crimps.
