Rob Allen GT Carbon Roller Speargun

Rollerguns

This category lists Rob Allen rollerguns, spearguns that run their bands around ceramic-bearing rollers in the muzzle for a longer power stroke. The range covers single-roller guns such as the Tuna Roller, GT Carbon Roller and Timberline Roller, plus the BlueFin, BlueFin Pro and Chaos Timberline double rollerguns.

Barrels come in aluminium, carbon and carbon with a mahogany sleeve, in lengths from 60 cm to 1.5 m.

How to choose a Rob Allen rollergun

Single roller or double roller

Single-roller models such as the Tuna Roller and GT Carbon Roller use a roller head with four ceramic bearings and 16 mm bands. The double rollerguns – BlueFin, BlueFin Pro and Chaos Timberline – run two 14 mm bands over eight ceramic bearings. The extra stroke delivers more energy to the shaft without adding barrel length, so a rollergun stays shorter and quicker to swing than a railgun of similar reach.

Barrel and length

Aluminium rail barrels (Tuna Roller, Snapper Rollergun, BlueFin Double) are tough and straightforward. Carbon barrels (GT Carbon Roller, BlueFin Pro Double) are lighter and stiffer. The Timberline Roller and Chaos Timberline combine carbon with mahogany for a damped, balanced feel. Compare more options in carbon spearguns. Lengths start at 60 cm on the Snapper Rollergun and reach 1.5 m on the Chaos Timberline.

Loading and maintenance

Rollerguns take a little more effort to load because each band wraps under the barrel and through the muzzle. The Load Assist loader and Easy Load Wishbone in Speargun Spares are designed for Rob Allen roller spearguns. Rinse the muzzle in fresh water after every dive and check that the rollers spin freely before the next trip.

FAQ

Is a rollergun better than a railgun?
Neither is better in every situation. A rollergun gives more power for its length; a conventional railgun is simpler to load and maintain.

Does a reel come with the gun?
The Timberline Roller includes a low-profile reel with 40 m of Ant line. The other rollerguns have an integrated reel mount or adaptor, so add a reel if you want one.

Can I convert my railgun into a rollergun?
Rob Allen makes a Roller Muzzle Conversion Kit for Vecta railguns. Email info@diver.lt with your gun model and length and we will confirm compatibility.
